Black Pudding

The above are some blurry/dark images of this band called 'Black Pudding' that I rather inadvertently saw on Saturday afternoon at the Boundary Hotel. With a name like that, and inspired by the songs that they played, I do wonder whether there may be a Goodies reference in there?
Anyway, the story:
The night before, I had left work and gone to visit my parents, which was described as 'Australian gothic' elsewhere, and went to the local Turkish for dinner. Bit of a waste IMHO, but, as my sister said, parents will use any excuse, and I must learn to accept graciously the generosity offered, etc. Anyway, next morning out the door at about 0600 and straight into the garden, where I spent the next 3 hrs or so pulling weeds/couch out, tidying up, fertilising the orange tree, and potting up some opportunistic avocadoes that I had come across.
Then went home. Toyed the idea of phoning my cousin and putting off our riding together on Sunday, just so that I could get beers and play NWN II for the afternoon/evening. Then she texted me, saying the riding was not an option. So I went and got beers, started playing NWN II. Was doing alright too, but then the desktop blew up ... :(
So, I thought to myself, shall go to Coles and pick up a few of life's little essentials, like toilet paper ... On way past Boundary, I heard the noise of a band playing, something which had not happened for awhile, so I stopped in to see what was happening. Just in time to see the singer performing in the bottom half of a possum outfit, complete with tail, say that this was the last song of the set, which suited me! So off to Coles I wandered, feeling quite elated/chuffed, especially from the energy from this band-good times with good friends.
Coles was shut!!! Hmm ... so, I turned around and went back to Boundary, had a Coopers Sparking Ale, and settled in to watch this band ... and they were really quite good! Needless to say technically they were competent, but one of the most exciting/enjoyable aspects was the sheer energy that they put into having fun. Was it just that they were playing in front of friends, and me?
Playlist was a mix of songs from 'that' era - Joy Division, Cure, even did a version of 'Jailbreak', which seemed to have been particularly popular ... Certainly had people up and dancing to many of the songs, and not just the girls either - there was one bloke who had a rather interesting interpretation on the whole notion of pogo dancing! Went up to talk to the guitarist afterwards, turns out the name of the band was 'Black Pudding' ...
Since then, rode up Mt. Coot-Tha yesterday, twice. Went up RHS 1st, slow and determined - certainly not anywhere near seven (7) minutes that some people did in the recent Mt. Coot-Tha Challenge, but I did make it without stopping ;) Anywyay, had so much fun, and forgotten the pain so quickly, that when I got to the bottom, I had a little rest, finished the rest of my Cadel's Mountain Mix bar (and let me say in passing, that this was both surprising in how tasty it was, but was also extremely pleasant to consume), and turned around to ride back up the LHS ...
Consequently my arse is rather sore today ... probably should have gone for a recovery ride around the river, but decided to crawl back into bed with a coffee and cookies to write this ... Having coffee later this morning with Jen Z. at Avid, which should be interesting ...
