So, have someone (Briar May) here to share expenses, space, etc. with, and it is really kind of weird! Hmm, may have been living too long on my own, methinks? But one good thing, coincidently or not, is that I have shifted my fat (am currently 85kg) arse and am riding a lot more … Including today's effort with Ian, which managed to expend 2200 calories, covered 80 km, and has left me rather wrung out … Having had three (3) coffees at McEwen's cafe did not help, I am sure, because I sure did have a lot of difficulty sleeping last night … or maybe it was just simply the excitement of anticipating the ride this morning?
Have realised that I no longer seem to have an ethos by which to live - woke up in 06, realised that that had not worked, and have never resolved differences since … so, what to do? Well, decided it may be worth looking at axioms, see what works/is workable, go from there, and explore the wu wei ideal? Maybe???
Went to see Akira at GoMA last night, and (perhaps foolishly) chose the version with the English subtitles, but OMFG it is such visceral film, evocative, stretching of imagination! The audience was a curious mix of the young, hip + happening and the faded past glorifying, remembering their youth … there was even applause at the end! Cor blimey, it was good to see - I think that the big screen really does something to enhance the impact/integration of the interaction of the film? Had invited a girl from PoF, but no response, so I assumed that was a 'no'? ;) In fact, it is probably as good a reason to withdraw from that environment as any other? As one of my axioms says (from the Holstee manifesto, in fact), 'If you are looking for the love of your life, stop. They will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love' …
Which reminds me, off to the Spring Hill Hotel tonight to visit StumpE, pay my respects, wish him a happy birthday, and then come home to the little house-warming that Briar has organised … bought a bunch of things in case I feel inclined (or have the time) to cook a rather interesting little pancetta/cabbage/cheese variation on risotto I came across this afternoon whilst browsing one of the cookbooks … Also got some capsicums to try my luck making that wonderful little dish with tomatoes/garlic/onions, to name a few! Goes well on toast too!
