Death is before me today:
Like the recovery of a sick man,
Like going forth into a
garden after sickness.
Death is before me today:
Like the odour of myrrh,
Like sitting under a sail
in a good wind.
Death is before me today:
Like the course of a stream;
Like the return of a man
from the war-galley to
his house.
Death is before me today:
Like the home that a man longs to see,
After years spent as a captive.
Anyway, was an interesting realisation that most people are born, and then spend most of their time 'looking forward to death', but as something to be feared ... there is always so much more to be done?
Was from the collection of Sandman ('Preludes & nocturnes') where his sister (Death) takes him for a walk on her daily rounds, and he realises that it is all natural, part of the cycle of existence, so why fear it?
For me, death is not to be feared, except as impacts on others ... a period of resting before going onwards ...
